Japan holiday 2018 – Day 10 – from Kyōto to Nikkō

Japan holiday 2018 - Day 10 - from Kyōto to Nikkō

Day 10 of our holiday saw us bidding farewell to Kyōto and travelling by train via Tokyo to Nikkō in the mountains approximately 140km north of Tokyo.

Nikkō impresses through its emanation of the power, wealth and aesthetic taste of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Amongst the most famous sites of Nikkō are the sacred bridge Shinkyo and the Tōshō-gū shrine with the mausoleum of the Shōgun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
