Pichi Richi Railway
30th Sep. 2010
My highlight day! We travelled with the Pichi Richi Railway from Quorn to Woolshed Flat and back.
The route of the Pichi Richi Railway is the oldest remaining section of the original Ghan route (narrow gauge). The route was built in 1878 and once formed part of the great "Central Australian Railway". Nowadays the Pichi Richi Railway is a museum railway with both steam and diesel locomotives.
Being the huge steam locomotive fan that I am, I obviously only wanted to travel on a day on which the train was steam-hauled! It was a wonderful day :)
Our outback adventures ended with this last excursion and on the following day we drove back to Adelaide.
